Novel writing and con running turn out to be mutually exclusive activities for me. I'll really have to buckle down when I get back home (and also on my return flight).

I imagine so! Doing NaNoWriMo and *not* running a con is kicking my keister.

I've decided to adopt this one. I'm Mary-Lynn on NaNoWriMo. Thanks.

I'm using it too...

did you post these in the nano lj group? Or at least make a post telling them it is here. I'm sure those who don't go to the board will appreciate it.

I just wanted to point out that I use the Semagic Livejournal client which supports macro's. I made one so that when i type Alt+Shift+W it replaces it with the image code
< img src="http://www.fivesided.com/nanowrimo/wordcount.php?uid=14988&offset=-5&type=meter&width=500&height=15&padding=8&legend=11&wordcount=????&pace=????" alt="NaNoWriMo meter" border="0" / >

with the ???? to be changed on a daily basis.

Googled and found this again this year. I assume it's going to work the same way. Thanks again.

I was keeping the LJ instructions mostly updated, but now this stuff has it's own page at http://www.fivesided.com/nanowrimo/.

Clicking that link gives me "You don't have permission to access /nanowrimo/ on this server."

My host shut me down due to the flood of traffic. Alas, alack.

I have a few other servers I can post it too, but I may try something more radical. Check back later tonight.

Ack! I thought it might be something like that, considering how the NaNo site won't even load right now. Best of luck fixing it.

Is it possible for me to upload the necessary code to my own server, so as to lighten the load?

No other meter will do it for me, yours is just that awesome.

*blush*

If you have a server that supports PHP then yes, it's possible to run it yourself.

If you create an ftp login for me (with access only to a /nanowrimo/ directory) I will even install and set it up for you, and then update it with bugfixes as I make them.

I'm fairly sure I do! Once I double check, where would you like the information sent?
